Autotransfusion Services

Autotransfusion Services is a unique specialty that includes collecting and returning shed blood from the surgical field to significantly reduce or eliminate the need for blood transfusions. The patients own shed blood is mixed with an anti-coagulant, filtered, washed, and concentrated before being returned to the patient. This procedure offers many benefits including: immediate availability of autologous blood, reduces the risk of blood borne disease and the risk of exposure to the Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) and the Hepatitis B Virus, and is commonly accepted by Jehovah Witness patients.
